GLOBAL EDUCATION FUTURES: MOSCOW MEETING February 29 – March 2, 2016

The purpose of this gathering is threefold:
• to present current results of GEF initiative and reflect on its journey (frank reflection & feedback on strong & weak points, suggestion for improvement)
• to discuss practical collaborative activities that can start building bridge(s) from the present into the desirable future
• to connect with initiatives that exist in Russia and can become part of the global movement for education redesign (including roadmap on the future of childhood & school education developed with the Agency of Strategic Initiatives)

Before the meeting: around February 22, materials will be sent to participants for the revision:
GEF vision, structure of GEF Agenda 2.0 report, and ASI roadmap on the future of childhood

Day 1 (February 29): GEF Revision and Mapping Intentions
Attendees: GEF core group (international experts + key national partners, ca. 15-20 individuals total)

14.00 – 15.30 Presentation of ASI Roadmap on Childhood & School Education, revision & discussion by GEF group

15.45 – 17.30 Planning of collaborative activities (with particular focus on organizations that will not be represented on Day 3)


Day 2 (March 1): Public Conference “How do we catch up with the Global Future of Education”
Attendees: GEF core group + ca. 60-70 Russian individuals interested in transforming education (university deans & school principals, representatives of the Ministry of Education and other government agencies, corporate HRs and heads of corporate universities, venture investors, startup founders, etc.)

In this panel we want to present “grand vision of the future”, the inspiring image of “reassembled” education that will serve lifelong learner needs and will meet 21 century challenges

11.00 – 12.30 Panel 2: “New Education – who will take responsibility for its transformation?”
In this panel, we want to discuss candidate stakeholders (e.g. government, NGOs, corporate sector, venture economy, etc.) who will push the transformation of education and will become key changemakers

In this series of short presentations, we want to revise success stories of making new education and present them as frank stories with their own internal failures, unrealized hopes, and multiple pivots. We want frank conversation of changemakers about the journeys they have been through, to inspire other people to follow in their footstep
Proposed cases:

- Researcher education in 21 century (Francois Taddei / Luping Xu)
- Relaunching urban planner education (Cees Donkers)
- Teaching global activism to 1000 young global leaders (Yiannis Laouris)
- How can we launch educational ecosystems in countries like Russia? (Michael Kozharinov)
- Voice of children: what kind of school do we really want? (Kahlia Laszlo)

Day 3 (March 2): Going Beyond GEF – Action Planning
Attendees: GEF core group

Our purpose of Day 3 is to discuss pilot program for transformational leaders of education that can be run in multiple locations around the world (and any adjacent activities that will be discussed during Day 1 & 2). We want to finish the day with commitments from attendees that will channel our energy after we leave Moscow

13.00 – 14.00 Lunch
14.00 – 17.00 Discussion continues. Action planning
17.00 – 17.30 Closing remarks
