Alena Aleshina has been an actisit for a significant part of his life, taking part in green movement, defending human rights, fighting against corruption. This took him to Youth Human Rights Movement (yhrm.org), Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG.org) and eventually to Transparency International (Transparency.org.ru). Around year 2008 I have shifted from being an activist to become an expert, gradually growing to a position of Deputy Director in Transparency International - Russia. For a year, he has hosted TV show on Russian unique independent TV channel Dozhd [1]. Part of my work involved education on anti-corruption, especially when we created Laboratory for Anticorruption Policy in Higher School of Economics [2].
Apart from my activism, I have been exploring contemplative practises, such as meditation and yoga. The other part of my live was life action role plays, which grew from a hobby into a educational and development practise, when I joined summer camp "Future Now" (http://www.vsepronas.info/) as a game master and counselor.
In the year 2013 he left Russia to take position in Miami University (Ohio, USA). Inbetween I had some time, so together with wife Alex we took a journey around Ukraine, Turkey and India, which was quite a transforming experience.
He has spent two years teaching in USA. In Miami University I had an opportunity to prepare and teach my own course on Human Rights, which allowed me to explore deep humanitarian backgrounds. I also have been involved into FLC on Contemplative Practices in Higher Education, exploring such practises with his students.
He came back to Russian at the beginning of 2016 and was glad to find, that some of my friends, involved in "Future Now" have been behind a new educational system Metaversity. Several month later he found himself in the middle of Global Educaiton Futures process and was happy to jump in and create the Catalyst team for our Community of Evolutionary Learning Labs. I feel like all my life was taking me towards this process and I have a personal responsibility of making this happen.
Apart from Protopia CELLs and Metaversity he is involved in several other educational projects in Russia and he is still exploring humanism. He became a rare humanitarian critique of human rights paradigm and I hope to find allies to explore new moral conventions for humanity.
