Mindfulness Training
Host: Victor Shiryaev
Everything we do in our lives depends on how attentive we are. Being attentive means being present. And being present is a skill (a combination of skills, actually) that can be trained. The most fundamental skill is concentration power, or the ability to direct your attention to whatever you deem relevant. If you learn foreign language, do some tasks at job, or listen to your spouse, concentration will definitely help. But it will also help when you walk in a park, listen to the music, or make love. In the workshop we will dive into some theory about why and how it works, explore simple neurophysiological mechanisms behind mindfulness, add two additional skills — sensory clarity and equanimity — and of course do many practical exercises to begin developing these skills."
